Community Building

4. Community Building

This is the final area of ministry. Community is the goal of Christianity. God is building a Communion of Saints. The building community is the heart and center of our vocation as a church.

A. Athletic Program- This includes sports for youth and adults. We have men's basketball on Wednesday nights and adult co-ed volleyball. The youth have soccer, volleyball, basketball and track. They always need coaches and helpers for the kids. Contact the parish office.  Bunny Rogan is the current coordinator,

B. Cursillo- This is a weekend retreat experience. Not something you would probably want to do right away, but to be considered in the future. After your weekend, you will meet weekly with others who have also done the retreat, for faith sharing. Contact the parish office, 778-3122.

C. Coffee'nd- You to can host coffee 'nd after  the 9 AM and 11 AM Masses on Sunday. Involves buying the donuts and juice and seeing that the coffee is made. We always need help with this. Your group will get the proceeds to use in your ministry. Contact Colleen, 778-3122.

D. Youth Ministry- The youth group is very active at Holy Rosary participating in a wide range of activities. Watch the bulletin for information. If you would like to work with a high school aged parishioner, make haste and call the parish office at 778-3122, ext 225.

E. Knights of Columbus- This is a men's organization that encompasses several of our local parishes. They have social activities, they do Super Sunday each month and donate the money to the Human Life Organization to combat all the many ways that life is threatened from abortion to euthanasia. The Knights also sponsor a basketball shooting contest and our annual Easter egg hunt for kids. They also provide scholarships to the three parish schools they draw their members from. Contact parish for the current contact,  Jim O'Brien

F. Parent Association- This group is mainly for those who have their children in the Holy Rosary School. They help raise funds for extra programs for the kids. They sponsor various speakers and programs throughout the year. Contact the school at 778-3197.

G. Pastoral Council- This is the group in the parish that advises Father on policy for the parish. He consults with them on the important decisions that the parish must make.

H. Little Blessings- This is a group of parents with young children. They meet 2-3 times per month for mutual support and sharing. They also go on field trips, do crafts and generally have a good time. Contact Elizabeth Peck at  (425)640-2736.

I. Assorted Social and Fundraising Events- The auction is one of our primary fundraisers and yet those who work on it always have a good time- it is an excellent way to get to know other parishioners. There is a social and dinner for widows and widowers in November; a Celebration of Marriage Dinner/Dance for couples in the spring; a welcoming dinner for all those who have joined our parish in the Fall; the St. Nicholas Breakfast; and the St. Patrick Salad Luncheon. There are also card playing leagues and other smaller events. Every year there are different social opportunities, watch the bulletin for announcements- you can both attend and help out.

J. Quilters- There is a small group of women who meet about once a week to work on quilting projects. If interested, contact the parish office, 778-3122.

K. Parish Commissions- The commissions set goals, do evaluations and help carry out programs for the appropriate parish groups. They are: Outreach, Faith Formation, Marriage and Family Life, Finance and Youth.
