Outreach Information The Outreach Program at Holy Rosary strives to serve the sick, the shut-ins, the grieving, the widow/widowers, the divorced and the poor of the community. We do this through various activities and organizations. Eucharist for those in the hospital or homebound We have an active program of lay ministers who take the eucharist weekly to those in the hospital or those confined to their own homes. If you know of someone who is unable to get to mass and would like to be a part of this program call the parish office, 778-3122, ext. 223. Parish Nursing Program We have a parish nursing program. If you have a health concern you would like to discuss, or are interested in them making a home visit, call the Parish office, 778-3122 to make contact. Care Facility Programs We have two nursing homes in the parish Aldercrest and Edmonds Rehab. Father offers mass at both facilities once a month. If there is no mass or communion service then volunteers pray the rosary with the residents. Communion is distributed on Sundays on an individual basis. Rosewood Court is a new care facility for alzheimer's patients. Individual communion is provided weekly. Edmonds Landing, an assisted living facility, is also located in the Parish. A communion service is held once a month. Individual communion is offered weekly. If you know of someone in these facilities that is not being served please call the parish and let us know, 778-3122, ext.223. Sacramental Anointing of the Sick is done once a year at Mass during Lent. Anointing can be arranged at any time during the year by calling the parish office. Grief Support At least twice a year we offer "Journey Through Grief" which is a program designed for those who have experienced the death of a loved one in the last several years. This is a 6 - week class offered by Sr. Jeri Renner, PO. She is an experienced bereavement counselor and spiritual elder. Regular participation in this series increases a person's base of support, decreases feelings of isolation and helps provide the positive skills that helps one cope. More information can be obtained by contacting the Parish Office at 425-778-3122. New Life Group is for those who are single, widows/widowers, and and those who are formerly married. We most months from October - May on a Friday evening from 6:30-8:30pm. Date can vary depending on the activity. Contact the Parish Office for the most updated information. Senior Moments is a group of 55 and older parishioners who meet for various activities throughout the month. See Senior Moments Activities Descriptions St. Vincent de Paul Society Our St. Vincent de Paul is very active and serves many clients throughout the year. If you need help with food, rent, utilities, etc. call the parish office and ask for St. Vincent de Paul. Counseling We have a clinical psychologist at the parish on Mondays from 10 AM to 6 PM. He is available for appointments by calling the Parish Office. Special Events: Each spring we offer a 8-10 course called Divorce and Beyond. This is intended for those who are newly separated or divorced. The program is designed to help people gain a perspective on their divorce, cope with the stresses and strains associated with divorce, understand some of their emotional responses, and find ways of coping that will lead to growth and the eventual restructuring of their lives. Call 778-3122. Each year in November we have a special dinner for the widow/widowers of the parish. Father offers the 5 PM Mass remembering all the deceased spouses in a special way. Following mass a social hour and dinner follow in the parish hall. Entertainment is provided and its a wonderful evening for everyone. Over Thanksgiving weekend each year our annual giving tree is placed in the church vestibule. 600 tags are placed on the tree naming items needed by less fortunate people. The response is overwhelming. This year we teamed up with Martin de Porres Shelters, the Interfaith Community Council and Catholic Community Services. In December we have our Christmas Flower Project. In early December over 100 poinsettias are delivered personally to those who are homebound, in the nursing homes, chronically ill or have lost a spouse in the past year. This remembrance from the parish brings much joy to those who receive them. A St. Nicholas Breakfast is held in early December each year for the children of the parish. This year the Knights of Columbus organized the annual event. A great breakfast, music and a visit from Santa are all included. This is always a sell out event. Each year during Lent the parish does a Novena of the Sick. A mailing is sent with prayers for the novena and a prayer intention card is included. The card can be returned with the names of sick loved ones. The names are compiled in a book which is placed on the altar during the novena masses. The yearly anointing of the sick at mass takes place on the last day of the novena. Each year during Lent we have an Easter Basket Project. Candy, toys, baskets, Easter grass and small stuffed animals are collected. Two or three work parties are held and approx. 800 Easter Baskets are made to be given to those children who wouldn't otherwise get one. Call the office during Lent for more details. If you have any questions or are interested in any of these events please call Eileen Niven at 778-3122, ext 223. |
